| Volunteer Opportunities There are new posters on the bulletin boards at both the Church and Parish House regarding the Adult Social Activities Program. They show many suggestions for upcoming activities. We need volunteers to jump in and get active. Please feel free to suggest ideas and share the responsibilities with those who have the same interests. Notes from Adult Social Activities Planning Meeting January 26, 2012 A planning committee of volunteers held an informal meeting at the Parish House to discuss the forming of an Adult Social Activities Program (ASAP) sponsored by the Greenland UCC. Those present were: Annie Beauchemin, Joe Beauchemin, Liz Zarick, Greg Zarick, Joanne Spradlin, Louise Thaden, Barb Hazzard, Rev. Bob Fellows, Jo Shultz and Chris Shultz. Chris Shultz gave a brief overview of the activities that were done in the past and enjoyed by all who participated. Some of the activities were progressive dinners, skiing, hayrides, Christmas Caroling even a weekend at Geneva Point Center on Lake Winnipesaukee. He also said that he would like to see this all happen again. Everyone overwhelmingly agreed. It was unanimously decided choosing a variety of social activities perhaps monthly would instill the most enthusiasm, benefit the community, and draw it even closer. A spreadsheet of ideas was distributed and many more ideas were added to it. We discussed the following: Which direction everyone would like to take? Have a variety of functions to choose from and try to set up a yearly schedule. Also have everyone be involved in helping each other to make each event a success. How often to hold the gatherings and what days? Monthly and whatever day that month works for the event Who would take responsibility for each event? The contact person would be the organizer(s) who agrees to host the functions would with help from a backup committee depending on the size of the event. How to keep posted and get involved? Periodically there will be bulletins and signup sheets posted at the Parish House. Our first event will be held on February 18th at 5:30PM. It will be a Pizza Party and Game Night and the contact people will be Louise Thaden and Joanne Shultz. Our second event will potentially be a movie and a dinner on March 10th organized by Liz and Greg Zarick. There are other plans in the works for winter/spring events. Be sure to jump in to help the organizers when you can. We are all pretty enthusiastic about the ideas we have come up with and we know there are many more out there. Please keep these dates open and prepare to have a good time each and every month. And lets have fun. |
